Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS

Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS is an international championship organised by SRO Motorsports Group in which leading manufacturers compete through their continental customer racing programmes. The 2023 season consists of sprint and endurance events in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, with a group of elite brands battling for top spot.

First launched in 2019, the concept unites a quartet of established continental series to create a comprehensive global platform. Competing manufacturers score points through their customer squads in each region, with the allocation differing depending on the event: 25 points are on offer at sprint races, up to 100 at the marquee CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa. Scores are multiplied by the number of cars competing in each class to produce the final total.

This year’s schedule will include 10 rounds staged under the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS banner. Launched in 2011, the category is the global leader in customer GT3 racing, featuring a calendar split equally between the long-distance Endurance Cup and the short-format Sprint Cup.

The series has built its success around the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, which is acknowledged as one of motorsport's premier events. What's more, since 2021 the Fanatec Esports GT Pro Series has united real-world and virtual motorsport at Endurance Cup rounds using the industry-leading simulation Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Founded in 2017, Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS has established itself as the continent's leading GT championship by placing emphasis on quality domestic entrants. Racing resumed in 2022 following a two-year hiatus due to Covid travel restrictions, with strong grids and a successful new innovation: the Japan Cup .

Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS draws upon a considerable competitive history across the United States. Its seven-round 2023 season includes a high-profile finale at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, competing alongside Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli.

The global championship added a fourth continent in 2021 when Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS joined the line-up. Organised by SRO in collaboration with the Australian Racing Group (ARG), the series competes at iconic tracks like Mount Panorama and Phillip Island, as well as modern facilities such as the Bend Motorsport Park.

GT World Challenge is made possible by Fanatec, an international leader in high-end sim racing hardware for consoles and PCs, and Amazon Web Services (AWS), the global technology provider to SRO Motorsports Group since 2021.
